End of July 2011
7/23/11 Here we all are rapidly approaching the end of July. July has been a frustrating flying month with all the forest fire. The Los Alamos fire was started by a downed power line apparently, so that makes it man made basically. Had that not occurred, it could have been caused by a lighting strike, something that has been occuring since the beginning of our weather patterns. It is just natures way of cleaning things up. The burned forest will never be the same in our life time, but it will return for those in the future. Gas prices when down for a couple weeks, but now the prices are at the highest point we have seen at Double Eagle. 6.70 per gallon for 100LL and 6.45 for self serv. This certainly makes it difficult for many people to get out and fly.

Did you know.....?
6/23/11 For over 33 years I have been providing high quality aerial photographic images to help other professionals continue to provide their high quality services. I have been fortunate to work with many great people and continue to do so. There are so many long term relationships that have been developed and I appreciated each opportunity to continue to work on so many different, interesting project. Something many clients are not totally aware of, is that I do provide a complete ground support for needed photographic images from the ground level. I have never openly marketed this service, only to those I provide aerials for. This way my clients are able to work with one person to get their package all put together. I have available an elevated platform allowing me to get up about 15' above the ground level which gives a much better perspective especially for photographing real estate.

East Bound Bridge Renovation on I-40 at Rio Puerco
This image was taken the day after the steel bridge structure collapsed during the demolition. No one was injured.
Updates
6/8/11 Each new week contains new twists and turns to our flight scheduling. Now it is the SMOKE from Arizona. This has created so many problems for so many people. With the smoke so bad here in the city in the evening, I really feel for those in the fire line. I can't even begin to imagine the horror and feeling of losing a home and all you life belongings. We certainly have to count our blessing eash day. Took a photo flight today to do a site near Belen and one south of Soccorro. The smoke haze was moderately bad and I questioned being able to fly safely all the way to Socorro. It turned out to be okay and actually cleared up some on the way back. Had a great tail wind coming home. Upon my return to Double Eagle Ariport the wind had kicked up to 15knots and the ridy was quite bumpy. Coming soon to my blog, I am going to start posting some interesting facts about our Universe. This has been one of my hobbies learning what I can about areas outside our world. WE are such a tiny spec out here in the vast area of space. The study brings our everyday problems back into perspective.

5/26/11 A most difficult month with all of the winds. SAFETY is always a key factor when planning any flight. The weather forecasts we get will tell us the winds are forecast to start blowing at an approximate time and guess what....they arrive 2 hours early. It certainly is not a perfect system. We always want to make sure if the winds are not blowing abd when we take off, we especially don't want them excessive when we land. Aviatin fuel prices are still at 6.35 per gallon self serve. We are hopefull the next load of fuel to the pump will have a lower price. We are always open to new ideas and the input from our clients is invaluable. We want to make sure we are doing a good job for you and being an effective member of your team. Please do not hesitate to contact us.
